DRIVER AUTONOMY + LIBERATION:An Emerging
Driver-Side Rideshare Mobile Application
BACKSTORY
The client is Boston’s gig-economy rideshare driver. Some of them are former taxi cab and black car service livery/hackney drivers, and some of them are everyday working class men and women who bet on themselves to become entrepreneurs. These drivers are a very diverse bunch operating on the Uber and Lyft rideshare and delivery mobile platforms (applications).
PROBLEM STATEMENT
Driver-side rideshare autonomy and accessibility via ride-hailing application platform.
PROCESS
My research taught me that some aspects of the legacy platforms are done correctly, and if they aren’t, because they have now become a convention, I must innovate responsibly.
I adapted conventions to the look and feel of the brand, while leveraging insights gathered from UX research to invent solutions to accessibility pain points within the margins of pre-existing conventions. New solutions created allowed me to address issues of autonomy within existing frameworks.
RESULTS
I successfully created and implemented solutions for autonomy and accessibility problems on the driver-side Uber and Lyft platforms by creating an improved layout for an emerging platform. The brand is being developed and the UI is being perfected for a future milestone achievement.
